Nazis out of sunshine

On 24 December it was uncovered that Nazis have been organising out of a gym in Sunshine West.

Relentless counter-protests were how we defeated the far-right Reclaim Australia movement in 2015. To defeat the fascists this time we must build our forces and counter them. So long as neo-Nazis are organising and recruiting, they remain a threat to everyone in the communities they infect.

On 29 July we held a rally against the Nazi’s recruitment event. Over 350 people the rally and marched through the streets in opposition.

We’re calling another rally on 23 September to protest against the presence of the gym in Sunshine.

We call on all anti-fascists to join our rally and help build the movement against the far right.

About CARF

The Campaign Against Racism & Fascism was formed in 2015 to combat the Reclaim Australia movement. We mobilised anti-fascists and anti-racists to drive the far-right off the streets of Melbourne and in the last few years have made Melbourne an extremely hostile place for international “celebrity fascists” like Milo Yiannopoulos and Stefan Molyneux.

In 2021 CARF actively organised to free the refugees detained by the racist Australian state. We organised ongoing protests at the Mantra Hotel and then the Park Hotel in Melbourne, where Medevac refugees have been locked up indefinitely. After weeks of ongoing protests, dozens of refugees were released from the Park Hotel.

Recently the right-wing anti-lockdown, anti-vaccine movements provided ground for fascists to grow, and CARF launched the ‘Pro-Vax, Pro-Union, Anti-Fascist’ campaign. We stand for public health and social solidarity, and are prepared to fight against reactionary movements that undermine the collective health and safety of the broader community.

Now the far right are back on the move. They organised an Australia-wide meeting of the National Socialist Network and the European Australian Movement at a gym in Sunshine. Relentless counter-protests were how we defeated the far right last time and we need to rebuild a staunch anti-fascist movement to combat them again.
