Stop Trump - Fight the far Right

In just a few weeks, Trump has launched attack after attack on oppressed people. In the first few months of his presidency we have witnessed attacks on trans people, on women, on minorities, on migrants, on Palestine activists, and on the American working class. He has empowered fascistic billionaires like Elon Musk to strut about on the world stage, and unleash massive attacks on social services and public employees.

All of this has strengthened the far right in America, and emboldened the far right across the world.

In Australia, figures like Peter Dutton, Pauline Hanson and Clive Palmer have been using Trumpist rhetoric and policies to whip up sexism, racism and other forms of bigotry. We have also seen a substantial increase in anti-Indigenous backlash following Dutton’s successful effort to defeat the Voice referendum.

Enough is enough.

Ahead of the upcoming federal election CARF is calling for a rally in opposition to these right-wingers, who have been mirroring Trump in promoting racism, sexism, and bigotry in this country.

We are also demanding that the government tear up AUKUS and end the US alliance, both of which mean that both the major parties have failed to call out Trump’s appalling rhetoric and policies and make it more likely that working class Australians will be involved in future American wars and conflicts. Instead of spending money on nuclear attack submarines, we need to be supporting public schools, hospitals and social services.

About CARF

The Campaign Against Racism & Fascism was formed in 2015 to combat the Reclaim Australia movement. We mobilised anti-fascists and anti-racists to drive the far-right off the streets of Melbourne and in the last few years have made Melbourne an extremely hostile place for international “celebrity fascists” like Milo Yiannopoulos and Stefan Molyneux.

In 2021 CARF actively organised to free the refugees detained by the racist Australian state. We organised ongoing protests at the Mantra Hotel and then the Park Hotel in Melbourne, where Medevac refugees have been locked up indefinitely. After weeks of ongoing protests, dozens of refugees were released from the Park Hotel.

When the right-wing anti-lockdown, anti-vaccine movements provided ground for fascists to grow, CARF launched the ‘Pro-Vax, Pro-Union, Anti-Fascist’ campaign. We stand for public health and social solidarity, and are prepared to fight against reactionary movements that undermine the collective health and safety of the broader community.

In 2023 we ran a successful campaign to kick the Nazis out of Sunshine. It took months of organising protests against the NSN’s key organising space in Melbourne’s working class suburb of Sunshine, but we succeeded in booting out the Nazis.

We’ve learnt that it takes protests on the streets to defeat the far right. Join us at our next protest and push back against the far right.
